Job summary

Vermont State University is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and assessment for students on campus in Randolph, VT. You will document in our EMR, maintain HIPAA standards, and coordinate with student success staff, faculty, and families.

The role includes supervision of interns, group facilitation, ongoing professional development, and collaboration with external providers. Occasional evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mental health counseling, social work, psychology required or licensed in field.
• Experience in higher education and licensing in psychotherapy preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and EMR documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct student counseling including assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.
• Maintain confidential case records in EMR per HIPAA standards.
• Consult and train residential life, student success staff, and Wellness programming with campus partners.
• Collaborate with faculty, parents, and external providers to plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities and referrals.
• Co-facilitate groups and trainings; support interns as assigned.
• Stay current with developments in the field through trainings and CE opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide direct services to students including clinical assessment, treatment planning, diagnostic formulation to provide short-term counseling and crisis interventions services.Maintain case records through our EMR system following HIPPA standards.Serve as a consultant and trainer for residential life, student success staff, and other VTSU departments on counseling and Wellness programming matters. Confer regularly with student success staff, faculty, and other VTSU personnel, as well as, parents, community health care providers, and other outside the University to plan, coordinate, and evaluate activities, programs, exchange information, make case referrals as appropriate, problem solve, and the like. Co-facilitated and provide support for groups, trainings, events, and to interns as needed and/or assigned by supervisor.Keep abreast of current developments in the field through trainings, workshops, research, and other educational resources (this includes CEs for licensed individuals).Other duties as assigned.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDDirect supervision is received by the Director of Health and Wellness.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYDirect supervision of interns and student workers as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRostered in Vermont with a master’s degree in either mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or similar field.
