Job summary

UW-La Crosse seeks a Counselor (Underserved Populations Coordinator) to provide direct and indirect mental health services to students, prioritizing underserved groups. The role includes crisis intervention, triage, and collaboration with campus partners, with a mix of in-person and telehealth counseling.

Qualifications

• Independent licensure in Wisconsin as LPC, LCSW, or LMFT, or eligibility for reciprocity.
• Experience providing mental health treatment on a college campus and serving diverse students.
• Ability to conduct outreach programming and trainings for underserved populations.
• Experience with crisis intervention and group/individual counseling.
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records and telehealth platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct counseling: individual, group, crisis, and occasional couples counseling for students, prioritizing underserved groups.
• Provide indirect counseling: develop campus relationships, coordinate outreach, and support referral pathways.
• Lead clinical staff development, training, and supervision toward licensure.
• Maintain accurate records and participate in university committees and public relations.
• Contribute to program development, outreach initiatives, and campus partnerships.
