Job summary

Middlebury College Dining is seeking an experienced Cook to prepare fresh, high quality meals for the campus community. You will follow standardized recipes, maintain safety standards, and support kitchen operations with a collaborative team.

The role is full-time, with a hiring range of $20.52-$24.27 per hour and shift differentials for evenings and weekends. Benefits include meals, uniforms, tuition benefits, and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

• Culinary training through an accredited culinary school or vocational program.
• Serve Safe certification or ability to pass the exam after hire date.
• 1 year of previous food preparation experience required.

Responsibilities

• Review production sheets and service menus to prepare items according to recipes.
• Prepare proteins, vegetables, fruits, and other items for recipes and salad bar as needed.
• Cook items according to supervisor’s instructions and production sheets to support timely service.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure quality and quantity of food produced on time.
• Check taste, consistency and presentation before service and address issues with supervisor.
• Set up service lines and vary production to keep food fresh and properly prepared.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen procedures and clean work areas throughout and after shifts.
