Job summary

Colorado School of Mines is seeking an Associate Director of Operations/Conferences and Event Services to lead internal and external events across campus spaces. The role oversees Moving & Event Support, student housing staff, and liaison with HR, IT and Marketing to ensure high-quality event experiences.

The candidate will supervise professional and student staff, maintain event management systems, and ensure policy compliance while driving pricing, procurement and facilities improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a university, hotel, or resort setting with conference/event coordination
• 3 years of supervision experience including staff development
• 3 years of experience in events management with sound, video and lighting systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders, clients and colleagues
• Strong administrative and planning abilities

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, oversight, and support to full-time staff; recruit, train, coach, and evaluate performance.
• Oversee daily operations of the information desk and venues; manage event-related services.
• Coordinate with IT, Marketing, and Communications for content updates and AV infrastructure.
• Oversee pricing, procurement, and budgeting for events and venue services.
• Manage campus event management software and dashboards; track performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with campus policies and risk management for events, including alcohol/minors.
