Job summary

Georgia Southern University seeks to develop and maintain a robust community engagement program, including a strong local volunteer service program, and support for the service-learning initiative and leadership development program.

Responsibilities include overseeing Serve912 on the Statesboro campus, recruiting and training student leaders, coordinating trips and events, and building partnerships with campus and community organizations.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of related work experience.
• Master's Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education or related field.
• Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
• Program development, implementation, and assessment experience is preferred.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee execution of the Serve912 community engagement program on the Statesboro campus, including community liaisons, volunteer trips, service events, and community partnerships.
• Recruit, select, train, and supervise a team of up to 10 student leaders to serve as community liaisons.
• Coordinate the Serve912 trip program including recruitment and training of student trip leaders, program marketing, budget management, and program assessment.
• Build positive relationships both on-campus and in the local community.
• Support the service hour tracking process through digital software and serve as department representative to platform administration.
• Coordinate the department's annual service-related events including Holiday Helper Tree, Step into Statesboro, Sculpt-It for the Hungry, National Volunteer Month, and Caring for Community Days.
• Oversee community engagement website pages and weekly OLCE newsletter.
• Teach leadership courses within the office's co-curricular leadership program as needed.
• Supervise at least one graduate assistant.
• Represent unit and university at recruitment events.
