Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. Benefits information is provided by ABM for frontline team members.

Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices, operating cleaners and equipment safely, and maintaining clean, organized spaces while complying with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Preferred: prior customer service experience; one year of similar work experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices and stairways.
• Sweep, mop and remove debris in designated areas.
• Empty trash receptacles and maintain recycling.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager about repairs or additions to building systems.
• Communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Move furniture and equipment to access cleaning areas.
• Clean interior partitions, windows, and glass surfaces.
• Perform seasonal tasks like grass cutting or snow removal as needed.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness and sanitary standards.
