Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Institutional Cleaning Coordinator to oversee cleaning and sanitation across multiple educational facilities in Paarl, Western Cape. The role focuses on planning, supervising staff, ensuring health and safety standards, and delivering a clean, safe environment for students and staff.

You will develop schedules, train staff, manage supplies and equipment, conduct inspections, and liaise with facility managers to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years in cleaning supervision or management, preferably in institutional settings.
• Solid understanding of cleaning methodologies, materials and equipment for large facilities.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for public institutions.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage and motivate a team and to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all daily cleaning and sanitation activities across designated educational facilities.
• Manage, train, and supervise a team of cleaning staff and ensure adherence to schedules.
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures for classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and common areas.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations in educational environments.
• Conduct regular inspections and manage procurement, inventory and use of cleaning supplies.
• Deliver training on cleaning techniques, chemical safety and emergency procedures.
• Maintain records of activities, attendance, inventory and inspections.
• Liaise with facility managers and school administrators to address issues and ensure satisfaction.
• Respond promptly to urgent cleaning needs or emergencies.
