Job summary

Brown University Dining Services is seeking a Cook to join our production team. You will prepare the menu of the day and catering meals using established recipes, while upholding the highest standards of sanitation, safety and quality assurance.

The role requires English communication, basic math for recipe conversions, and safe operation of kitchen equipment. This is a full-time, on-site position with a collaborative campus environment.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes, and communicates effectively in English.
• Basic math for converting recipes and volume-weight conversions.
• Understands symbols of weight and measure.
• One-year experience as a Cook’s Helper or equivalent mastery of tasks.
• Willingness to promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and service the menu of the day and catering meals using established procedures and recipes.
• Observe sanitation, safety and quality standards at all times.
• Coordinate simple tasks and assist peers to complete duties.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Contribute to safe food handling and adherence to holding times and temperatures.
