Job summary

The Cafe at Kirkwood (Iowa Hall, Kirkwood Community College) welcomes customers and serves meals, snacks, and beverages to students, staff, and guests on campus. As a cashier/barista, you will greet patrons, take orders, answer questions, promote menu options, and handle payments in a fast-paced, friendly environment.

We value teamwork, dependable attendance, and a positive, inclusive attitude. Prior hospitality or food-service experience is helpful but not required; all team members contribute

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent required.
• Customer service background preferred.
• Experience with computers, hardware, and software.
• Preference for two years full-time hospitality experience or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and take food and drink orders.
• Answer questions about menu choices and promote items.
• Prepare and serve beverages and desserts.
• Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas; follow food safety guidelines.
• Assist with other kitchen/server duties as needed.
