Job summary

Kirkwood Community College seeks a versatile server/bartender to set up and serve food and beverages for banquets. This role may train students and hourly staff, supervising learning experiences across The Hotel at Kirkwood Center and related venues, with cross-training as a banquet bartender.

You will uphold high service standards, maintain a clean and safe workspace, handle guest concerns, and participate in pre‑shift meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Serving eligibility; 16+ required.
• Bartending shifts require 18+.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food and beverage service for the banquet department.
• Set up for banquet events, carry trays, serve guests and clean up events.
• Provide consistently high standard of service in all areas of service and meal functions related to group.
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Effectively handle customer concerns.
• Participate in department and pre-shift meetings.
• Prepare mixed drinks as ordered, and collect payment and give change to guests at Banquet Bar's.
• Understand and practice “Service Alcohol with Care” principles.
• Maintain compliance with required training as designated by supervisor.
• Regular and consistent attendance at work.
• Perform other related work duties as assigned.
