Job summary

Lamar State College-Orange is seeking a Café Assistant to support daily operations at the Gator Café. This salaried, part-time position runs 20 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 1:00pm, assisting the manager and cook with food prep, service, and catering tasks.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and strong written and verbal communication. Prior food handling experience is preferred, with opportunities to obtain a food handler certification and

Qualifications

• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in food handling and preparation preferred.
• Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with faculty, staff, and clientele.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning the Café, sweeping, mopping, wiping counters, cleaning refrigerator, washing dishes.
• Operate Café register and handle money.
• Assist in food order preparation and ensure Get-and-Go items are stocked.
• Take orders over the phone and in person.
• Obtain a food handler’s certification and renew every 2 years.
• Support catering orders and provide administrative assistance to the Gator Café Manager.
