Responsibilities include operating buses on assigned routes, performing inspections, completing reports, and maintaining familiarity with routes and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience operating public transportation vehicles, heavy trucks, commercial vehicles, or similar heavy equipment.
• Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements.
• Ability to meet all applicable federal, state, and Duke transportation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate buses and transit vehicles on assigned routes and on schedule.
• Transport students, employees, patients, visitors and other passengers courteously and professionally.
• Follow all traffic laws, regulations, and Duke transportation policies.
• Complete manifests, inspections, incident reports and operational records.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections for safety and reliability.
• Communicate with dispatch via two-way radio for updates and service needs.
• Assist passengers with boarding and alighting and provide a safe ride experience.
• Maintain route familiarity and adapt to changing traffic conditions and emergencies.
