Job summary

University of Central Missouri (UCM) is seeking a skilled Boiler and Heating System Operator to perform maintenance and operation of campus boiler and related heating systems. The role supports academic, residential, athletic, and administrative facilities through reliable utility services and collaborative work with senior boiler technicians.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training, trade school, apprenticeship, military training, or coursework in boiler operations, HVAC, mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
• Education may be substituted for experience, or experience for education, based on the following: AA or 60 credit hours = 2 years of experience; BA/BS or 120 credit hours = 4 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and assist in the repair of campus boiler systems and associated equipment.
• Assist higher-level boiler technicians with steam, hot water, hydronic, and radiant heating systems.
• Monitor boiler combustion, draft controls, feedwater systems, condensate return systems, and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, heat exchangers, piping systems, and related mechanical equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic, electronic, and solid-state control systems.
• Maintain accurate operational records, water quality logs, and chemical treatment documentation.
