Job summary

BARNES & NOBLE COLLEGE is seeking a resourceful Department Manager to oversee store operations and departments, ensuring excellent customer service and proper merchandising. You will work with the management team to maintain standards and support daily store functions.

Responsibilities include acting as Manager-on-Duty, using campus knowledge to guide decisions, and ensuring proper workload execution while maintaining a welcoming sales floor for textbooks and merchandise.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting as a manager or buyer preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operation of the store in partnership with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager and the management team.
• Act as the Manager-on-Duty and provide daily support and guidance to customers and team members.
• Utilize analytical skills and knowledge of the campus to manage day-to-day operations.
• Assign work and direct team members to complete multiple projects and workloads.
• Maintain an on-floor presence to greet customers and assist with purchases.
