Arizona Science Center is seeking a CAMP Onsite Assistant to support the Learning Division's camp programs. You will help prepare pre-planned activities, lead demonstrations, and assist the Camp Instructor to foster inquiry and hands-on learning for students in grades 1–12.
You will supervise 15–25 campers, ensure safety, and assist with daily records while contributing to a fun, educational environment. A 16+ age minimum is required, with accommodations as needed.

The CAMP Onsite Assistant ensures implementation of services within the Learning Division at Arizona Science Center to inspire, educate, and engage people of all ages through science, and to advance educational leadership, quality teaching, parent and community support, and student engagement for success in learning. The CAMP Onsite Assistant will assist the Instructor with preparing pre‑planned fun, engaging investigations and demonstrations during seasonal camp programs that foster inquiry and research‑based learning. The CAMP Onsite Assistant will help manage and supervise a group of 15‑25 school‑aged guests. The CAMP Onsite Assistant may be asked to participate in other activities to further educational goals of the Science Center.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a minimum of 16 years of age on the date of hire, and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Public speaking/theater background; general ability to engage members of the public in conversation; an interest in and enthusiasm for science and working with children.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluency in a second language- Spanish or American Sign Language is preferred but not required.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
This job also requires the appropriate use of a computer which will be placed somewhere in the employee’s workspace. The employee must have the necessary keyboard and computer mouse skills as well as the ability to read a monitor.
