As a mentor and role model at Cub Creek Science Camp, you'll gain hands‑on experience, build your resume, and connect with a global community of staff and campers who share your passion for animals and nature. With 300+ animals and 100+ activities, our unique take on the traditional sleep‑away camp is a place where you can inspire kids, help them build self-confidence, and make lifelong friends.

2027 Dates

The Camp Health Coordinator is responsible for responding to field injuries and illnesses, distributing routine medications throughout camp, and providing first‑response emergency care. This role serves as the primary mobile medical responder.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Distribute all scheduled daily and evening medications to campers.
  • Respond to medical situations in program areas, trails, and cabins.
  • Accurately document all Health Lodge visits and outcomes.
  • Provide initial assessment, stabilization, and transport to the Health Lodge as needed.
  • Communicate all medical encounters to the Nurse.
  • Carry first‑response equipment and maintain medical readiness in the field.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training.
  • Follow all camp policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of campers.
  • Completed at least 1 year of college education, with a specialization in nursing, pre‑med, or health sciences preferred.
  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Utilize strong emergency response and assessment skills.
  • Remain calm and decisive in high‑pressure situations.
  • Work outdoors in all camp environments.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with campers and staff.
  • Possess experience in health care or youth services (preferred).
  • Demonstrate a desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions in a constructive manner.
  • Work self‑sufficiently on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, giving and receiving direction from others.
  • Adhere to the camp's code of conduct, rules, and policies.

$8,800 for 11 week summer (2 weeks training and 9 weeks of camp). Additional $100 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Two 1-hour breaks provided each day, and a scheduled 21-hour break each week.
