Job summary

Cub Creek Science Camp in Rolla, Missouri, is seeking mature, independent staff for a 11‑week summer program for ages 7 to 17. This hands-on environment combines animals, nature, and science to build confidence and friendships.

You will mentor campers, support cabin counselors, and engage in activities across our 100+ offerings, learning and growing in a dynamic team setting.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years of college education.
  • Experience working with children/teens in camp or educational setting.
  • Desire to positively impact a child and camper-first attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and skills.
  • Adherence to camp conduct rules and policies.
  • Constructive communication of ideas and instructions.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

2027 Dates

Work cooperatively with Cabin Counselors and support staff to provide a healthy, safe and enjoyable camp environment and experience for all campers. Camper Advocates are responsible for supporting cabin counselors in the effective behavioral and emotional support of campers.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Support cabin counselors and campers in creating a positive cabin environment.
  • Communicate with cabin counselors, camp office, and program directors on camper wellbeing and experience.
  • Communicate with parents in a professional and solution-focused manner regarding camper experiences.
  • Support camper emotional and behavioral needs with issues such as homesickness, anxiety, or making friends, and refer and report incidents to the appropriate program director.
  • Conduct weekly camper satisfaction surveys and follow-up with counselors and campers to ensure camper needs are met.
  • Work with lead instructors, program directors, and others to schedule and facilitate special events including evening activities, early-birds, sneakouts, and night-owls.
  • Collect camper schedule preferences and assign campers to courses and classes each day.
  • Completed at least 2 years of college education.
  • Experience working with children and/or teens in a camp or educational setting.
  • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Ability to work flexibly, balancing tasks with unexpected camper needs.
  • Have a passion for science, animals, and childhood development.
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions in a constructive manner.

Startingpay $4050 for 11 week summer. Additional $100 credit in campstore for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundryincluded. Weekend work is required, this position requiresavailability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contractperiod. Two 1-hour breaksprovided each day, and 1 scheduled day offeach week.
