Title: Camp Counselor
Status: Temporary Summer Employment
Hourly Rate: $12.00

Description:

Become part of the dynamic City of Fishers Parks team this summer as a Camp Counselor! This position involves working collaboratively within a site-specific team to engage with children ages 5-10. As part of the team, you will help assist with delivery of enrichment activities with enthusiasm and competence. Counselors are responsible for providing a safe, enriching, and character-focused environment for participants in the Summer Camp program.

Camps operate Monday - Friday. The 2025 Summer Season runs Monday, 6/2/2025 - Friday, 8/1/2025. New Counselors = $12.00 per hour. Returning staff will receive a step increase per year of service.

Essential job responsibilities and duties:

• Attend morning meetings and afternoon debriefs.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians, and members of the general public.
• Ensure the well-being of campers at all times while fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Assist with daily camp preparation and clean up.
• Promote and demonstrate respect for all spaces and materials, ensuring they are properly maintained and left in their original condition.
• Actively engage in games and activities with campers.
• Assist with delivery of camp programs/activities.
• Ensure program participants adhere to established rules and regulations.
• Assist at Parks Department Summer special events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 16 years of age or older with a preference to those 18 years +
• Experience and ability to work well with children required;
• Mature judgment and ability to safely supervise children required;
• Must have current CPR and first aid certification or ability to obtain (Training provided by the City of Fishers);
• Ability to work well as part of a team or independently;
• Reliable transportation to and from program sites;
• Must pass a complete criminal history background check as a part of our hiring process.

Camps operate Monday - Friday 6/2/25 - 8/1/25

Please Note: We understand school schedules vary and have flexibility with start and end dates of employment depending on individual needs.

• Approximately 30 - 40 hours per week. Typical shifts:
  • 1/2 day camp - 8am – 1:30 pm
  • Full-day camp - 8am - 5pm

Supplemental Information:

• First Aid/CPR Certification will be offered as a part of the training process.
