Pay Range

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Role Overview

The Senior Camp Counselor supervises children, supports camper safety and engagement, and assists in planning and delivering camp activities. They serve as a positive role model and support the Camp Director and Specialists in all camp-related tasks.

Essential Functions

• Maintain professionalism and a positive demeanor, wearing the Camp T-shirt daily.
• Supervise and engage campers and Junior Counselors, responding to their needs.
• Assist activity specialists and learn camper names.
• Greet campers enthusiastically and respectfully.
• Develop positive relationships with families and understand their motivations for choosing our Y.
• Support camp themes, events, trips, and activities.
• Encourage youth development and maintain camp cleanliness.
• Collaborate with staff in planning activities.
• Uphold YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Safety & Supervision

• Attend staff meetings and complete required training.
• Uphold safety standards, conduct face counts, and understand risk management policies.
• Assist with aquatic activities, following all safety policies and procedures.
• Report incidents and concerns promptly.
• Ensure bus safety and lead fun activities during transit.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma; college credits preferred.
• Understanding of youth development principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creativity, flexibility, and high energy.
• Experience leading group activities (1-3 years).
• First Aid, CPR, AED certifications may be required.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand for long periods, supervise children actively, and lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to hear alarms and speak clearly.
