Job description

Position Overview

The Camp Coordinator is responsible for all duties associated with planning and executing seasonal break camps. This position requires an understanding of Waldorf education and how to design and implement camp experiences that reflect the Waldorf pedagogy mission and values. All camps must be age-appropriate, thoughtfully planned, and aligned with PWS curriculum standards and program goals.

Additionally, the Camp Coordinator must be on-site during camp weeks and are the lead instructor or assistant for grades camp, as needed. These camps are offered school-wide—from Early Childhood through Middle School—and open to both enrolled and non-enrolled PWS students.

This role involves promoting the program to current PWS families as well as to external families, requiring strong communication skills and an authentic enthusiasm for the camps that are being offered.

In addition, the Camp Coordinator will work with the Business Administrator to develop and manage the camp budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial accountability. This role requires that the individual be comfortable working with software including Microsoft Office to set up camp registration within the School’s databases, evaluating camp pricing, preparing and distributing marketing communications, and managing one-on-one parent communications about PWS seasonal camps.

  • Experience in recordkeeping and developing and managing budgets.
  • Experience in outreach and marketing.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using social media for a variety of tasks.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Outgoing, self-motivated, and open to exploring new ideas.
  • Familiarity with Waldorf pedagogy or a willingness to learn.
Compensation

Schedule A: 4 hours/day, typically 9:00AM-1:00PM – All days that camps are not in session.

Work hours may be adjusted on days when a required staff meeting, employee training takes place later in the day, or if front office coverage is needed.

Schedule B: 8:00AM-4PM – All days that camps are in session.

Flexibility will be required to accommodate the needs of the School during peak camp periods.

Specific start and end times may vary for administrative staff members, but the number of hours is representative.

The pay range for this position is $22.50-$25.00 per hour.

Physical Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

This position is primarily based in an indoor setting, with daily outdoor tasks.

During camp weeks, the employee will spend most of the time standing for long periods indoors and outdoors.

The outdoor spaces are made up of hard and uneven surfaces and maintaining balance and stability while performing tasks is crucial.

There will be exposure to different weather conditions and potential hazards such as varied terrain.

This position requires consistent bending and stooping such as bending down to pick up items or perform tasks at ground level.

The employee must regularly lift, carry, and move items that can weigh 20 to over 50 pounds.

It is recommended that anything over the weight limits should be done as an assisted lift, either a two-person lift or a mechanical lift.

The employee must exercise caution when reaching or stretching to access items stored at elevated positions.

It is recommended that employees ask for help when a physical task becomes or is demanding.

The employee must be able to climb stairs to access different levels of the facility.

This job requires the employee to perform tasks that require repetitive hand and finger movements, such as typing.

PWS resides in two school locations, made up of buildings that include classrooms, art and music rooms, administrative offices, employee flex spaces, and communal spaces.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, noise levels increase when students transition to and from classes, and during recess, lunch breaks, and at dismissal times.
