Job summary

TelevisaUnivision in Miami seeks a Part-time Camera Operator, Jib to join our production team. You will build and operate the Jib crane, ensure smooth movements, and support news, sports and entertainment productions.

Candidates should have a degree in television production, 3-5 years in a control room, physical ability to handle crane up to 40 feet and 50-pound camera, and be ready for on-call hours including nights and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in television production or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in a control room broadcast facility.
• Physical ability to swing crane up to 40 feet and carry a 50-pound camera load.
• Perform under pressure and in breaking news situations.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
• On-call availability for 24x7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Production Operations at Televisa Univision is looking for a Camera Operator, Jib to join our team!

Responsible for the building, operations and general maintenance of the Jib Cameras. Operator must provide creative, fluid movement of the camera on multi-camera productions for News, Sports and Entertainment studio shows. The Camera Operator, Jib will report to the Production Manager.

YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

• Create smooth fluid movements of the camera to enhance the production value of each program. Must be able to pan and tilt camera as well as swing the crane through spaces.

• Maintain stable framing without extraneous movement on all axis.

• Setup, balance, troubleshoot, and maintain crane and associated equipment.

• Operator controls zoom and focus of lens. Good sense of visual composition.

• Take direction well and work as a team player.

• Operate in a safe and controlled manner to minimize injury to self or others as well as any damage to equipment or property.

• Ability to follow a rundown.

YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s Degree in television production or equivalent work experience.

• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems.

• 3-5 years of experience in control room broadcast facility.

• Physical ability to swing and stop camera boom of up to 40 feet while carrying a camera load of up to 50 pounds as well as the crane itself and the associated counterweights.

• Perform well under pressure and breaking news situations.

• Agility to move at a rapid pace as production needs may require.

• Provide creative input, e.g., assists the Director/ Producer in creating the look of a show, including set design; suggests alternate shots; etc.

• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

• As this position supports 24x7 operation, candidate must, in addition to being able to work regular hours, have on-call availability, and flexibility to work days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice. Additionally, candidate may be required to work on site for extended periods of time to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as, during tropical storm/hurricane.
