Cleaveland/Price in Trafford, PA is seeking a Programmer II to develop and maintain CNC programs and setup documentation for a range of fabrication equipment. You will optimize toolpaths, reduce cycle times, and ensure compliance with engineering specs and quality standards.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.

• Conduct simulations and machine verification to prevent collisions and reduce setup risks.
• Maintain program revisions and records per company standards.

Cleaveland/Price specializes in the design and manufacture of high voltage disconnect switches and switch automation products. The products that we offer are unique in design, and some include patented features. Products have been developed and tested in accordance with IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards for high voltage equipment. They are primarily used by investor-owned and public electric utilities and large industrial operations in substation, distribution, transmission, and generation applications.

All company operations take place in a modern 218,300 sq. ft. multi-site facility situated on 20 acres east of Trafford, PA. The facility houses virtually all resources for product realization, including engineering, supply chain, parts fabrication, electro‑mechanical assembly, and testing. Fabrication capabilities include laser and plasma cutting, CNC machining, CNC punching, and automated bending and forming. The company also utilizes specialized processes, such as MIG and TIG welding, friction welding, silver and tin electroplating, and silver brazing.

Your Goal

Develop and maintain accurate CNC programs and set up documentation for a variety of fabrication equipment using CAM software and other methods to support production, quality, and delivery objectives. Continuously improve machining processes by optimizing toolpaths, reducing cycle times, and minimizing setup challenges while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.

Your Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for machining, bending, cut line equipment using SolidCAM and other programming software.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and CAD models to develop efficient machining processes.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, fixtures, and machining strategies to maximize productivity and quality.
• Generate and verify toolpaths to ensure machining accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve machining and manufacturing challenges.
• Provide complete setup documentation, tooling requirements, and machining instructions for production personnel.
• Troubleshoot and correct program issues with operator during program prove outs.
• Optimize cycle times and machining processes while maintaining product quality and dimensional requirements.
• Support new product introductions by developing machining processes and validating programs before production release.
• Conduct program simulations and machine verification to prevent collisions and reduce setup risks.
• Maintain program revisions, documentation, and engineering records in accordance with company standards.
• Recommend process improvements related to tooling, fixturing, programming methods, and machining techniques.
• Work closely with machine operators and setup technicians to improve manufacturability and production efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental objectives and business needs.

Qualifications:

Your Background

• Minimum of 2+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with CAM software such as SolidCAM, Mastercam, Fusion 360, ESPRIT, GibbsCAM, or similar platforms.
• Experience programming CNC mills and lathes and other fabrication equipment including multi‑axis machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding, and fixturing methods.
• Experience with CAD models and the ability to work from 3D solid models and customer drawings.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Light work. Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10lbs. of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects that are negligible in weight. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
