This position involves working in a shop environment under the supervision of a Caltrans (CT) Highway Mechanic Supervisor. The incumbent will lead a team of CT Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Automobile Mechanics, Helpers, and Apprentices. Responsibilities include estimating accident damage, assigning jobs, inspecting work, providing instructions, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and performing repairs and maintenance on various vehicles and equipment used in Caltrans fleet, such as automobiles, trucks, tractors, loaders, graders, snowplows, and more. The role requires completing repair records, using computer systems for data entry, and ensuring safety and proper handling of materials and equipment. A valid class C driver’s license is required. Job may involve travel, shift work, and work hours adjustments.
Position located at 320 South Sierra Way, San Bernardino, CA. Salary ranges from $5,978 to $7,164 per month. Final filing date: 6/26/2025.
