Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a calm, patient Behaviour & Wellbeing Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Durham. You will work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils who may need help with emotional regulation, behaviour, confidence and engagement.

Qualifications

• Patient, calm and emotionally resilient.
• Confident working with children who may display challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience in education, childcare, youth work or mentoring is desirable but not essential.
• Graduate or aspiring teacher with volunteering/placement experience welcome.

Responsibilities

• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help children develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour.
• Support pupils to re-engage with their learning.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support where needed.
• Encourage positive communication and conflict resolution.
• Promote positive behaviour and celebrate progress.
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff.
