Virtual Vocations Inc. is seeking a fully remote California Licensed Profee Coder to apply CPT and ICD-10 codes to patient records, review documentation for coding accuracy, and provide feedback to physicians on documentation improvements.

The role requires CPC or CCS-P certification, at least three years of E/M and CPT coding experience, and a background in emergency department, urgent care, ICU, or hospitalist coding. Proficiency with EMR and billing platforms is essential.

• Certification CPC or CCS-P from an accredited institution.
• At least three years of experience in evaluation and management and CPT coding.
• Experience in emergency department, urgent care, ICU, or hospitalist coding preferred.
• Proficient with EMR systems and coding/billing platforms.
• Strong understanding of ethical coding, reimbursement, and documentation compliance.

To support coding needs in emergency medicine, the fully remote California Licensed Profee Coder will apply appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to patient medical records, review documentation for coding accuracy, and provide feedback to physicians on documentation improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzes medical record documentation to determine correct CPT and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes
• Completes coding functions for assigned charts daily, ensuring a minimum coding rate with high accuracy
• Communicates with physicians regarding documentation improvements and escalates issues affecting workflow

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a defined training program resulting in a CPC or CCS-P certification from an accredited institution
• Minimum of three years of experience in evaluation and management and CPT coding
• Background in emergency department, urgent care, ICU, or hospitalist coding preferred
• Proficient in electronic health record systems and coding/billing platforms
• Strong understanding of ethical coding, reimbursement, and documentation compliance
