Job summary

Foss Maritime is seeking an experienced Captain to join our Southern California operations. This full-time role guarantees 14 days per calendar month with a 1 week on / 1 week off schedule and no vessel assignment.

Travel expenses are paid when working outside the home region, and the position offers a path for growth within Foss regions and vessels located in California. The successful candidate will lead safe operations, supervise crew, ensure compliance with SMS, and manage navigation,

Qualifications

Valid US Coast Guard credentials and licenses for Master on Ship Assist/Escort vessels.
Experience as Master on ship assist/escort vessels; offshore towing preferred.
Must be able to work in California with travel as needed.
Familiarity with ASD propulsion and multiple vessel types.

Responsibilities

Ensure safe navigation of the vessel at all times.
Oversee vessel drills, training, maintenance, and inspections to ensure compliance with company, safety, and maritime standards.
Ensure prompt and accurate reporting of all equipment failures, illnesses, incidents, accidents and damages.
Hold crew accountable for their adherence to maritime law, company policies and procedures, and their individual performance/productivity.
