Job summary

Caliday is seeking a dedicated educator for our School Age Program in Baltimore, MD. You will foster a safe, engaging environment and deliver age-appropriate activities aligned with the Caliday curriculum.

Bring strong classroom management, clear parent communication, and reliable teamwork. CPR/First Aid and ADA training are required, along with 400 hours of prior school-age experience.

The ideal candidate holds an AA or BA in a related field or has the specified clock-hour credentials.

Qualifications

• AA or BA in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or similar OR 45 clock hours Child Development (birth through school-age) and 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care.
• 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training, Basic Health and Safety training, and ADA training.
• 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
• Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for children, parents and visitors.
• Implements age-appropriate activities and manages classroom effectively.
• Assists and supervises children during activities and counsels using Conscious Discipline.
• Communicates effectively with parents and gives regular updates on program happenings.
• Maintains open communication with team, parents and school community.
• Ensures appearance, cleanliness and safety of the classroom environment.
• Identifies opportunities or problems in the program and collaborates to resolve them.
• Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.

Essential Functions:

• Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
• Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
• Implements activities that are age-appropriate and stimulating in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum; manages effective classroom management.
• Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
• Maintains open and effective communication with team, parents and school community.
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
• Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the other team members to resolve.
• Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have an AA or bachelor's degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or a similar discipline OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care
• The ideal candidate will have the 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training certificate, Basic Health and Safety training certificate and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
• Candidates are required to have 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.
