Job summary

Caliday is seeking qualified educators for our School Age Program in Kentucky to inspire kids with fun, safe activities aligned to Caliday's curriculum. You will foster a welcoming space for children, families and staff while upholding regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates hold an AA or BA in education-related fields or 400 hours of school-age experience, plus CPR/First Aid, Basic Health and Safety, and ADA training. Ongoing certification and CE credits are encouraged.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have an AA or Bachelor's in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or related field, or equivalent clock hours.
• Includes 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents and the public, CPR/First Aid, Basic Health and Safety, and ADA training.
• Candidate must have 400 hours of experience with school-age children in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

• Manages the program space in compliance with MSDE-OCC regulations and policies.
• Provides a welcoming environment for children, parents and visitors.
• Implements age-appropriate activities with strong classroom management.
• Assists and supervises children; counsels using Conscious Discipline and behavior management.
• Communicates with parents with updates and timely address of concerns.
• Maintains open communication with team, parents and school community.
• Ensures cleanliness and safety of the classroom environment.
• Identifies opportunities or problems and works with the team to resolve.
• Maintains yearly certification requirements including CE credits.

Essential Functions:

• Manages the program space, ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
• Provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all children, parents and visitors.
• Implements activities that are age-appropriate and stimulating in accordance with the provided Caliday curriculum; manages effective classroom management.
• Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using Conscious Discipline and appropriate behavior management techniques.
• Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on program happenings.
• Maintains open and effective communication with team, parents and school community.
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom environment is appropriately maintained.
• Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the program and works with the other team members to resolve.
• Maintains yearly certification requirements including Continuing Education Credits.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have an AA or bachelor's degree (or credit equivalent) in Elementary Education, Psychology, Child Development, Family Studies or a similar discipline OR the 45 clock hours Child Development, birth through school-age, and the 45 clock hours Curriculum for School Age Care
• The ideal candidate will have the 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, CPR and First Aid training certificate, Basic Health and Safety training certificate and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) training certificate.
• Candidates are required to have 400 hours of experience working with School Age children in a professional environment.
