Trescal is a premier calibration, repair and asset services provider in the U.S. located in Irving, TX. We seek a Calibration Technician - Level 3 to perform calibrations on medium to high level test and measurement instrumentation and to support general lab duties.

The role requires troubleshooting ability, self-motivation, and the capacity to coordinate field calibration teams. ISO/IEC 17025 knowledge and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of laboratory experience (commercial or military).
• Knowledge of metrology practices and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and understand calibration data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of medium to high level test and measurement equipment with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate and lead field calibration activities with teams.
• Create and verify calibration data sheets based on instrument specs and procedures.
• Develop calibration procedures to meet customer needs while ensuring traceability.

The Calibration Technician - Level 3 is required to perform calibrations on medium to high level test and measurement instrumentation and assist in general laboratory duties as assigned. This person should be able to troubleshoot and repair simple malfunctions. The technician must be self-motivated and rarely requires guidance from other personnel in the measurements it is proficient. Collateral duties may be assigned as a permanent part of the position description depending on individual's abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform calibration of medium to high level test and measurement equipment with minimal supervision
• Ensure customer satisfaction and timely turn-around on all equipment and service
• Create and verify calibration data sheets for technical content and accuracy based upon instrument specifications and approved calibration procedures
• Develop calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customer while supporting traceability of the measurements
• Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently, maintaining a combined QDI/PVI discrepancy rate of 5% or less
• Maintain technical proficiency and effectiveness through self-study, training programs, and proficiency testing
• Coordinate and lead teams performing field calibration and maintenance activities
• Identify and communicate potential sales leads when appropriate
• Support general laboratory operations in an efficient and organized manner
• Assist the Laboratory Manager with technician training and customer education as needed
• Ensure that preventative maintenance of the laboratory's equipment is performed in a timely and acceptable manner
• Perform daily inspections of incoming equipment to verify accessories and manuals are available, malfunctions of customer instrumentation, and to change equipment status when appropriate
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Military (PMEL) experience or two years of a technical associates degree preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial or military laboratory experience
• Basic knowledge of metrology practices and theories, analog and digital circuit analysis
• Experienced in calibrating several disciplines of test and measurement equipment used in conjunction with the repair and calibration of electronic, mechanical, acoustical, chemical, thermal and/or dimensional devices
• Possess basic troubleshooting and repair capabilities, and the ability to work on unique equipment with product information
• Proficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation software
• Ability to evaluate appropriate standards and scope of accreditation to determine if these tools are acceptable for calibrating M&TE
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirements
• Experienced in calibrating several disciplines of test and measurement equipment such as: Physical, Dimensional, Electronics, Temperature, or Pressure
• Strong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills
• Proficient computers skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Internet Research and Database management
• Skilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor and train
• Ability to travel up to 50%
