Job description

Position Overview

The Calibration Technician B will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in various disciplines such as Acoustical, Chemical, Dimensional, DC/Low Frequency, RF/Microwave, Fluid, Mechanical, Optical, Thermodynamics, and Time & Frequency to ensure measurement accuracy. The role involves identifying and utilizing appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures.

This position typically receives general instructions and applies job skills and company policies to complete semi-routine tasks. The Calibration Technician B may perform laboratory housekeeping and report opinions and interpretations as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) across specified disciplines to meet published specifications.
  • Maintain secondary and/or working calibration standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of precision equipment.
  • Collect, compile, measure, and record calibration data.
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions.
  • Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
  • Adapt existing calibration equipment and techniques for unique measurement tasks.
  • Train subordinates in calibration procedures.
  • Interact with technicians, customer service representatives, account managers, and customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform basic math and algebra.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic troubleshooting, repair, and alignment skills for precision equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Minimum one year of calibration experience or formal metrology training.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivated, team player, and ability to follow procedures.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Occasional standing and bending.
Working Environment
  • Primarily in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
  • Travel may be required domestically and internationally.
