Job summary

Kurt Manufacturing, a Minneapolis-based leader in precision CNC-machining, seeks a Calibration Technician for 1st shift. You will read quality control specs, calibrate devices, adjust calibration, and maintain gage calibration tracking.

Experience with precision measuring tools and hand tools is required. The role offers starting pay between $26.29 and $35.00 per hour, with a full benefits package and an employee-owned environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering preferred.
  • 1 year of related experience required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reads quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate devices.
  • Observes readings on meters and gauges to identify defects and determine calibration requirements.
  • Adjusts calibration mechanisms using hand tools and precision instruments.
  • Applies sealing compound to prevent readjustment of settings after calibration.
  • Maintains gage calibration and tracking system.
  • May disassemble device to identify cause of defective operation and notify supervision.

Compensation: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $26.29 to $35.00 per hour. The exact pay rate may be determined on a combination of factors including the candidate's knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.

Shift: 1 st shift, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Essential Functions
  • Reads quality control manual and testing specifications to obtain data to test or calibrate specific devices.
  • Observes readings on meters and gauges, and other displays and performance of device or instrument to identify functional defects and determine calibration requirements.
  • Adjusts calibration mechanisms to obtain specified operational performance of device or instrument using hand tools and precision measuring and calibrating instruments and equipment.
  • Applies sealing compound on calibration mechanism to prevent readjustment of settings and loss of calibration.
  • Rejects malfunctioning devices and routes devices to specified department for rework or salvaging of parts.
  • Determine and build proper gage necessary to inspect blueprint characteristics.
  • Maintains gage calibration and tracking system.
  • May disassemble instrument or device to determine cause of defective operation and notify supervisory personnel of findings.

Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • 1 year of related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering or a related field
  • 2 years of related experience

  • Adjust vision to bring objects into sharp focus
  • Identify and distinguish colors
