Job summary

Hy-Vee’s Bakery is seeking a skilled Cake Designer to create customer cakes and decorations with precision and artistry. You will greet customers, translate their vision into designs, and ensure timely production in a fast-paced bakery environment.

You’ll lead part-time teammates, collaborate with the Bakery team, and maintain up-to-date decorating trends while upholding Hy-Vee’s cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months or less of related experience. Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and take bakery orders.
• Set up production timelines and check daily cake details (size, deco pack, icing, dates).
• Decorate bakery items and stay current on designs and trends.
• Prepare daily bakery orders for bakers (cakes and sizes).
• Track daily production and coordinate with coworkers to complete tasks.
• Manage product dates, pull items, and refill as needed.
• Order decorating supplies and verify receipts.
• Deliver wedding cakes on-site and set up at the event.
• Communicate with Bakery Manager about displays and promotions.
• Lead part-time staff and participate in cross-training.
