Job summary

Hy-Vee’s Bakery Cake Designer role centers on turning customer visions into cake reality, from birthdays to weddings, with on-site delivery and setup. You’ll grow decorating skills, keep production on schedule, and lead part-time teammates while delivering outstanding customer service.

This on-site position requires attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate with the Bakery Manager to meet deadlines and create memorable experiences for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and take orders at the bakery counter; assist with their needs.
• Check orders for the day, set up timelines and production schedules, verify cake details (size, deco pack, icing, dates).
• Decorate bakery items in a timely manner and stay updated on new designs.
• Develop daily bakery orders for bakers including cakes and sizes needed.
• Track daily production and coordinate tasks with coworkers; ensure product dates and cases are correct.
