Job summary

Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace in Melville, NY is seeking an experienced Cake Decorator to join our gourmet bakery team. You will decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special orders with creative designs while ensuring product quality and accurate pricing.

The ideal candidate has HS diploma or equivalent, professional cake decorating training, 2+ years of experience in retail bakery, and excellent English. You will work in a fast-paced environment, maintain cleanliness, and deliver outstanding

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Professional training in cake decoration.
• 2+ years of cake decorating in retail environment.
• Must be able to read, speak and understand English.
• Detail oriented with a keen eye for cake decorating.

Responsibilities

• Decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special-order items creatively.
• Assist production of bakery products to daily par levels.
• Produce in-house products to daily production sheets.
• Complete production and spoilage records and adjust sheets.
• Prepare, package, weigh and price bakery goods for sale.
• Monitor freshness and rotate products to ensure quality.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Uncle Giuseppe's gourmet bakery is actively seeking an experienced and creative Cake Decorator for our gourmet marketplace bakery. This new team member will perform all duties related to cake, tart, pastry, and special-order decoration. Our new hire will also create appealing designs on all specialty bakery goods ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient service to our customers.

Responsibilities

1. Creatively decorates all cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items
2. Assists with production of all mandatory bakery products (i.e. parfaits, bars, cupcakes)
3. Produces in-house products to daily par levels, as specified on production sheets
4. Completes production and spoilage records, adjusting production sheets to maintain sufficient product
5. Prepares, packages, weighs, and prices bakery products for sale
6. Monitors product quality for freshness and ensures proper product rotation
7. Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
8. Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
9. Other duties and functions as assigned

3. Good cake decorating skills (ability to make flowers and decorative borders; knowledge of elegant piping techniques)

Experience/Education

1. HS Diploma or equivalent
2. Professional training or in depth training as a Cake Decorator
3. 2 + years of Cake Decorating experience in addition experience working within a retail experience performing cake decorating
4. Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
5. Requires an individual who is detail oriented with a keen eye for the art of cake decorating
