Job summary

Sweet Treets Bakery in Austin, TX is seeking a Cake Decorator Apprentice to join a creative, highly skilled team. You will assist on wedding and celebration cakes while learning hands-on techniques from seasoned decorators.

Ideal candidates have some decorating experience and basic buttercream, fondant, and piping skills. You should be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and enjoy a collaborative, mentorship-focused environment with weekend flexibility.

Qualifications

• Previous cake decorating experience required (student decorators welcome).
• Basic buttercream, fondant, and piping skills.
• Eagerness to learn classic and modern cake design under guidance of experienced decorators.
• Strong time management and ability to assist with multiple orders simultaneously.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and pride in craftsmanship.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Mix buttercream colors and prepare fondant to team specifications.
• Stack cakes and assist with basic decorating tasks.
• Support the decorating team on wedding cakes, birthday cakes, decorated cookies, and cupcake orders.
• Learn advanced techniques from our highly skilled decorating team.
• Assist with production, preparation, and finishing work as needed.
• Keep decorating tools and workspace clean and organized.

We're now looking for a Cake Decorator Apprentice to join our team, assist our decorating team on custom orders, and learn hands-on techniques from some of the most skilled decorators in Austin.

What We’re Looking For
