Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace is seeking an experienced Cake Decorator to join our gourmet bakery team in Morris Plains, NJ. You will decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items, while assisting with production and maintaining product quality.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of cake decorating experience in a retail bakery, strong piping skills, and a detail-oriented approach. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential in our fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Professional training or in-depth training as a Cake Decorator.
• 2+ years of Cake Decorating experience in a retail bakery setting.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English.
• Detail-oriented with a passion for cake decorating.

Responsibilities

• Creatively decorates all cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items.
• Assists with production of all bakery products (parfaits, bars, cupcakes).
• Produces in-house products to daily par levels per production sheets.
• Completes production and spoilage records and updates production sheets.
• Prepares, packages, weighs, and prices bakery products for sale.
• Monitors product quality for freshness and proper rotation.
• Provides excellent customer service and addresses customer needs promptly.

Job description

Uncle Giuseppe's gourmet bakery is actively seeking an experienced and creative Cake Decorator for our gourmet marketplace bakery. This new team member will perform all duties related to cake, tart, pastry, and special-order decoration. Our new hire will also create appealing designs on all specialty bakery goods ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient service to our customers.

Responsibilities

1. Creatively decorates all cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items
2. Assists with production of all mandatory bakery products (i.e. parfaits, bars, cupcakes)
3. Produces in-house products to daily par levels, as specified on production sheets
4. Completes production and spoilage records, adjusting production sheets to maintain sufficient product
5. Prepares, packages, weighs, and prices bakery products for sale
6. Monitors product quality for freshness and ensures proper product rotation
7. Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
8. Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
9. Other duties and functions as assigned

Experience/Education

1. HS Diploma or equivalent
2. Professional training or in depth training as a Cake Decorator
3. 2 + years of Cake Decorating experience in addition experience working within a retail experience performing cake decorating
4. Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
5. Requires an individual who is detail oriented with a keen eye for the art of cake decorating
