Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greets customers with a smile, makes suggestions, answers questions about products and cake preparation. Resolves customer concerns promptly and courteously. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person with a positive attitude. Determines customer preferences for size, flavor, and appearance. Creates decorated products in a timely fashion.
2. Decorates cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific designs, or custom designs. Uses various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent results. Prepares icing for cakes and related products, adhering to company recipes.
3. Trims and cuts cakes to required shapes and sizes. Applies icing between layers and on cake surfaces. Tints white icing to desired colors.
4. Assists in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, following production logs. Creates cakes, pastries, etc., for sale. Follows rotation and markdown policies to ensure freshness and quality. Maintains inventory levels through proper ordering and logging.
5. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
6. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties if trained. Training provided.
7. Responsible for general sanitation in the department. Follows cleaning schedules and guidelines to keep work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases clean and compliant with health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
8. Ensures smooth department and store operation by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Continuously seeks to improve job performance.
9. Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and sponsored footwear.
10. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 years of decorating experience
