Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a well-stocked and appealing bakery department to meet customer demand. Greet customers with a smile, make suggestions, answer questions about products and cake preparation. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously. Take orders over the phone or in person, assisting customers in choosing size, flavor, and appearance. Create decorated products in a timely manner.
2. Decorate cakes and bakery items using dyes, specific or custom designs. Use various creams, frostings, and fillings consistently. Make icing according to company recipes.
3. Trim and cut cakes to required shapes and sizes. Apply icing between layers and on surfaces. Tint white icing to desired colors.
4. Assist in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, adhering to production logs. Prepare cakes and pastries for sale, ensuring quality and freshness through rotation and markdown policies. Manage inventory levels with proper ordering and logging.
5. Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, operating a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
6. Assist with cardboard baling or related duties if trained. Training provided.
7. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the department, following schedules and guidelines to meet health and OSHA standards. Properly dispose of trash.
8. Ensure smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Continuously seek to improve job performance.
9. Utilize all company-provided PPE, such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, footwear, etc.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 1-2 years of decorating experience preferred.

Rate of Pay and Benefits
