Part Time Cake Decorator / Bakery Clerk (Finance)

Job Overview:

Provides direct, prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Decorates bakery products for sale according to company policy and customer preference. Interacts with customers for their immediate selection of various fresh meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods from the deli department. Handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions, treating customers as the most important people in the store.
2. Greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
3. Icing, decorating, packaging, labeling, and pricing products for island refrigerated cases.
4. Icing, decorating, tray, and maintaining freezer and refrigerated showcase.
5. Take customer orders at the deli counter, slice products, weigh, date, label, and wrap all products.
6. Understand and practice proper sanitation procedures; ensure the work area is always clean and neat.
7. Review the status and appearance of food for freshness.
8. Monitor temperatures of all hot and cold units for proper holding procedures.
9. Clean all equipment in the Deli/Bakery department daily.
10. Ensure food handling complies with local health department regulations.
11. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; request supplies orally or in writing.
• Knowledge of cake decorating, specifically cake decorating skills.
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances over 20 inches and less than 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Ability to handle refrigerated and frozen temperatures when retrieving products from freezers.
• Ability to participate in the preparation of salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
• Ability to operate slicers and fryers safely to produce sliced meats, cheeses, and fried foods.
• Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
