Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Keep the bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Greet customers, make suggestions, answer questions about products and cake preparation. Resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously. Take customer orders over the phone or in person, determining preferences and creating decorated products in a timely manner.
2. Decorate cakes and bakery products using dyes, specific or custom designs. Use various creams, frostings, and fillings with consistent results. Make icing for cakes and related products, following company-approved recipes.
3. Trim and cut cakes to required shapes and sizes. Spread icing between layers and on cake surfaces. Tint white icing to required colors.
4. Assist in filling and merchandising the bakery sales area, adhering to production logs. Create cakes and pastries for sale, following rotation and markdown policies to ensure quality and freshness. Help maintain inventory levels through proper ordering and logging.
5. Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries, using a power jack or hand jack if trained. Training provided.
6. Assist with baling cardboard or other duties if trained. Training provided.
7. Maintain general sanitation in the department by following cleaning schedules and guidelines, ensuring work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA standards. Properly dispose of trash.
8. Ensure smooth department and store operation by cooperating with co-workers and supervisors. Aim for continuous improvement in job performance.
9. Utilize all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and sponsored footwear.
10. Assist in other departments as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. 1-2 years’ experience in decorating.
