This essential role supports compliance with SOPs, AAALAC, NIH, and USDA standards and requires careful documentation and safety practices.

As an Essential Reporting position, the role involves coordinating with supervision, maintaining cleanliness, and preparing equipment for reuse.

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment medical clearance and participate in health program vaccinations as required by the Institute.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Experience with or training in sanitation and operating cleaning equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process soiled animal cages and equipment for cleaning and prepare sanitized cages for reuse.
• Operate cage wash equipment and maintain knowledge of SOPs and cleaning products.
• Maintain clean/soiled equipment and traffic separation per SOPs and safety protocols.
• Complete sanitation and sterilization requirements and document activities within required timeframes.
• Work under direct supervision and ensure proper PPE is worn.
• Prepare clean caging equipment for use and maintain wash areas tidy and organized.
• Monitor inventory of chemicals and accessories and alert supervisors to shortages.
