Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine seeks a dedicated team member to support the Center for Comparative Medicine's cage wash operations in Houston. The role focuses on cleaning and maintaining animal cages and related equipment, ensuring a sanitary and compliant facility.

Typical hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with potential weekend coverage on a rotating basis. This is an onsite, nonexempt position requiring attention to safety procedures and SOP adherence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Sanitize, maintain, and repair animal caging and related equipment.
• Operate cage washers, autoclaves, sterilizers, and pallet jack safely.
• Maintain and clean the cage wash and animal facility according to SOPs.
• Perform general housekeeping of the animal facility.
• Assist with receipt, stocking, and maintenance of supply inventories.
• Prepare and submit required records, charts, logs, and inventories.
• Maintain bulk feed and bedding supplies.
• Dispose of waste materials per safety procedures.
• Review and comply with SOPs and QA standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
