Job summary

Charles River Houston is seeking a Cagewash Technician I to maintain the sanitation of cages and supplies to ensure animal welfare and regulatory compliance. The role includes keeping the Cage Wash area organized and ensuring equipment functions properly to maintain productivity and safety standards.

Overtime may be required including weekends, and extended shifts as required to meet operational demands. The pay for this position is $17.75 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year experience in a physically demanding role.
• Experience working in a lab animal vivarium preferred.
• Experience working in an environment requiring SOPs and record keeping preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete required documentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Transports cages using a two-person procedure.
• Operates the automated Cage Wash Machine per SOP.
• Loads and unloads the cage wash machine.
• Performs daily maintenance checks on cage wash machines.
• Records tasks in logbooks accurately and completely.
• Prioritizes and prepares caging for new animals.
• Organizes, cleans, and maintains the cage wash area.
• Replenishes cleaning chemicals as needed.
• May assist with Animal Care sanitation tasks as assigned by supervisor.
