Job Description

The Cage & Players Club Cashier is responsible for providing superior service to both internal and external customers. The role requires excellent communication and judgment skills, as it involves frequent interaction with high-limit customers and making decisions regarding extensions of compliments. The incumbent performs various cashier functions in a pleasant, efficient, and honest manner.

  • Opens check-cashing cards (requires making credit inquiries).
  • Cashes checks, money orders, cashier checks, coins, or chips for customers and employees.
  • Handles large amounts of money, accounting for total funds received throughout the day and at the end of each shift.
  • Exchanges foreign currency, cash, coins, handles employee pay advances, and exchanges coin, tokens, or gaming chips for customers.
  • Explains loyalty program structure and how to qualify for different levels of complimentary services and/or goods.
  • Performs telephone functions to and from central credit, other casinos, and departments within Boyd Gaming.
  • Maintains accountability over a cashier drawer.
  • Works closely with Executive Hosts and VIP Gaming Services to ensure superior guest satisfaction.
  • Greets Player’s Club guests courteously and explains amenities and features.
  • Resolves customer service issues, concerns, or problems to ensure guest satisfaction and handles difficult customers professionally.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent and at least one year of experience administering and communicating casino player-tracking programs.

  • Ability to maintain all regulatory licenses within the assigned state of employment.
  • Must pass background check and alcohol/drug screening.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, contacts, and staff.
  • Ability to review and understand documentation.
  • Ability to observe and direct subordinates' actions.
  • Proficient with computers, keyboards, and related equipment.
  • Flexible to work varying shifts and schedules.
  • Understanding of property and department policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of player-tracking systems and player value concepts.
  • Ability to use all related equipment, including player-tracking systems, AS/400, and telephones.
  • Ability to review and interpret reports and documentation.
  • Ability to move efficiently around work areas and balance the bank at shift end.
  • Accurately cash different denominations and handle various financial transactions.
