Needham Public Schools is seeking a friendly and energetic Cafeteria Worker Substitute (1 yr.) to join our Needham High School team in Massachusetts. The role involves meal production, serving, and cleanup in the school kitchen and cafeteria under the supervision of the Cafeteria Manager.

Qualifications

Salary and Benefits:

Hourly rate range : $17.50- $21.57 (Sy26 rate)

Job Summary:

Required to perform all aspects of meal production, serving, and clean-up within the school kitchen and cafeteria as assigned by the school Cafeteria Manager. Receive and put away orders of foods and supplies.

Qualifications:

• Prepare food / learn to prepare and serve food- in large quantities, using large kitchen equipment
• Clean equipment, serving areas, handwash pots and pans, and other cleaning and sanitizing duties
• Read basic English and follow directions
• Perform all duties while following National Restaurant Association standards for sanitation and safety
• Lift 50 lbs
• Walk and stand for the duration of the work schedule
• Work safely and accurately under a deadline
• Learn and follow food safety procedures (annual ServSafe training is provided; required to pass certification exam following training)
• Follow directions and work independently
• Work cooperatively with co-workers and contribute to a positive working environment
• Safely tolerate exposure to heat, humidity, steam, cooking odors, refrigerator and freezer temperatures, and cleaning solutions
• Work in a clean and sanitary manner
• Have fun and display a positive attitude at work
• Food Service experience as a Substitute Cafeteria Worker in Needham Public Schools is required (every new employee starts as a sub)

Working Conditions:

Ability to work on one's feet all day in a non-air-conditioned kitchen.

Need to keep hair restrained and wear vinyl or plastic gloves while handling food.
