Job summary

Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando is seeking a hands‑on Cafeteria Supervisor to lead the Team Member Cafeteria during evenings, weekends, and peak periods. You will oversee food quality, sanitation, inventory, and staff development to deliver a consistently positive dining experience for team members.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years of supervisory hotel experience, knowledge of kitchen equipment, and a strong focus on food safety and guest service in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years supervisory experience in upscale, high‑volume hotel preferred.
  • Experience with the listed kitchen equipment and food preparation processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Food Service Sanitation Standards.
  • Certification as Food Service Manager or other regulation‑required certification.
  • Effective leadership, organizational and communication skills.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent formal training preferred.
  • Excellent guest service skills and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to regularly push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs and to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Team Member Cafeteria, ensuring high‑quality food service, cleanliness, organization, and sanitation.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Cafeteria team members to promote engagement and service excellence.
  • Monitor food quality, recipe adherence, portion consistency, freshness, and presentation standards.
  • Manage menu execution by ensuring recipes and serving standards are followed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of food prep, dining, and storage areas for cleanliness and safety.
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, receiving, and storage to minimize waste and maintain quality.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels for food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Perform regular quality checks on handling, temperatures, and sanitation.
  • Schedule workforce and daily work assignments to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Support onboarding and training with ongoing coaching and development.
  • Partner with culinary, procurement, facilities, and other teams to support operations.
  • Monitor labor, inventory controls, and food costs to meet departmental goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency and guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and food safety regulations.

About Lakewood Regional Support

Our regional support center provides resources to our hotels for multiple areas including Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Guest Contact Center, Information Technology, Laundry and Communications.

What We’re Looking For

A motivated and hands‑on leader to support the daily operation of the Team Member Cafeteria. This role is responsible for ensuring a consistently positive dining experience through food quality oversight, inventory management, sanitation standards, and team supervision. Working closely with department leadership, this position provides operational leadership during evenings, weekends, and other key business periods while coaching and developing team members to deliver exceptional service and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee the daily operation of the Team Member Cafeteria, ensuring high‑quality food service, cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Cafeteria team members to promote engagement, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Monitor food quality, recipe adherence, portion consistency, freshness, and presentation standards to ensure a positive dining experience for Team Members.
  • Support menu execution by ensuring recipes, preparation methods, and serving standards are consistently followed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of food preparation, serving, dining, and storage areas to maintain cleanliness, organization, sanitation compliance, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee inventory levels, product rotation, ordering, receiving, and storage practices to support operational needs, minimize waste, and maintain product quality.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels for food, beverages, supplies, and other operational inventory.
  • Perform regular quality checks to verify proper food handling, holding temperatures, storage procedures, and sanitation practices.
  • Workforce scheduling and daily work assignments to ensure effective staffing coverage.
  • Support onboarding and training activities while providing ongoing coaching and development to team members.
  • Partner with culinary, procurement, facilities, and other internal teams to support operational effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Assist with monitoring labor usage, inventory controls, food costs, and supply expenses to support departmental objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve food quality, operational efficiency, cleanliness standards, and the overall Team Member experience.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, sanitation standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance in alignment with company standards and operational needs.

Your Qualifications Include
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in upscale, high-volume hotel preferred.
  • Experienced in ingredients, techniques, and operating Combination Ovens, Fryers, Grills, Griddles, Food Processors, Mixers, Slicers, Steamers, Sous Vide Machines, and Walk‑in Coolers.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Food Service Sanitation Standards.
  • Certification as "Food Service Manager" or other, as required by State County or Local regulations.
  • Effective leadership, organizational and communication skills.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent formal training preferred
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Ability to regularly push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and written with team members, leaders and guests required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
