Job summary

Barbers Hill ISD in Mont Belvieu, Texas, is seeking a School Nutrition Manager to supervise the preparation, cooking and serving of meals in our cafeteria. You will ensure food safety, sanitation and production standards, manage staff, and uphold district policies.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, Texas Food Handler’s Certificate, and a Texas Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days; minimum 3 years in school food service; starting immediately.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED; Texas Food Handler’s Certificate; valid Texas Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills; planning and organizational skills; proficient in multi-tasking; knowledge of food prep methods; read/speak English; direct and manage personnel; basic bookkeeping and mathematics; professional appearance and cleanliness; lift up to 50 pounds; work in cold and hot environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a valid food manager’s certificate.
• Manage food production, storage and serving of nutritious meals using standardized recipes and production records.
• Assign and schedule work tasks for school nutrition employees.
• Handle all financial transactions related to serving meals.
• Order food and supplies; ensure proper storage.
• Record and retain food production records.
• Maintain health requirements meeting regulations.
• Instruct and train nutrition staff.
• Attend managers’ meetings and other briefings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
