Cafeteria Helper (2 open positions)

Time: 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

Nature of the Position:

Under the general direction of the Director of Business & Operations and the direct supervision of the Director of Food Service, the Cafeteria Helper will work collaboratively with co-workers to ensure the smooth operation of the school lunch program. The Cafeteria Helper supports the program by providing students with nutritious, high-quality meals in an environment that promotes cleanliness, efficiency, and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification of good health.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • This position may also be assigned as a floater employee.
  • Experience as a food service worker, preferably in a school cafeteria setting.
  • Successful completion of ServSafe and/or Food Handler Certification.

Employment Conditions:

  • Employees shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout their employment with the District.
  • Employees shall comply with all Board policies and applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including but not limited to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), applicable non-discrimination requirements, and related educational regulations.
  • Employees shall maintain all required certifications, training, and licensing requirements.
  • Such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent or designee may find appropriate and acceptable.

ADA Requirements :

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, menus, recipes, schedules, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate food service equipment and perform routine food preparation and serving duties.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull food products, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain sanitation standards and follow all food safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and interact appropriately with students during meal service.
  • Ability to work in varying kitchen temperatures, including exposure to heat, cold, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to travel between district buildings as assigned.
  • Ability to attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Ability to maintain regular, reliable attendance and arrive punctually for assigned workdays.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation:

Starting Wage: $16.26 per hour

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $16.26 to $16.45 Per Hour
