Job summary

St. Clair County RESA’s Snack Shop Caterer position supports the Catering Department by assisting with baking, cooking, preparing meals and snacks, serving, handling money, and managing inventory, including deliveries and working with students.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ServSafe sanitation certification, and a valid Michigan driver’s license, with the ability to lift 50 lbs and work long hours while standing; wages range $15.00–$17.00 per hour for a year-round

Qualifications

• Food preparation, baking, and cooking experience in restaurants, hospitals, schools, or catering events.
• Ability to work with students and staff in a customer service setting.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work long hours while standing.
• Knowledge and/or certification in ServSafe Sanitation.
• Valid Michigan driver's license.

• Communicate effectively with students, instructional staff, catering staff, and administration.

• Work a flexible schedule throughout the year, including possible nights, weekends, and summer.
• Detection of burning, spoilage, and freshness of food products.
• Prepare daily food requirements.
• Read and follow recipes.
• Deliver a high level of customer service at all times.
• Able to work with students.
• Work in a fast, steady‑paced environment.

Position Summary: The Caterer provides various support services while assigned to the Catering Department at the St. Clair County RESA. Services may include baking, cooking, preparing food, serving, handling money, managing inventory, delivering food, and working with students.

Conditions of Employment

• Employment Date: Pending School Board approval and completion of pre‑employment, drug screen, and background check.
• Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am – 2:30 pm, not to exceed 35 hours/week.
• Year‑round School Position, including summer hours (not to exceed 261 days per year).
• Wage: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour based on demonstrated skill and ability.
• Fringes: Single subscriber health, dental, vision, life, long‑term disability, retirement.
