Job summary

Anchor Bay School District is seeking a Lunch Aide for Anchor Bay Middle School South in Chesterfield, Michigan. The role is part-time with about 3.0 hours per day and involves serving meals, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and assisting with daily cafeteria operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Attend regularly and reliably in person.
  • Portion and serve foods following HACCP safety guidelines.
  • Set up and break down serving lines.
  • Complete daily production and intake/deposit paperwork.
  • Follow SOPs in Food Safety/HACCP Manual.
  • Follow dress code per policy.

Job Description

Hours: 3.0 hours per day

Qualifications
  • Ability to lift stock items up to 30 pounds while performing inventory, ordering and stocking of delivery items.
  • Ability to work with chemicals for cleanup of dishes, kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and time‑scheduled environment.
  • Basic math/computer knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to pass or provide documentation proving passage of Serve Safe Certification, a sanitation and safety training test.
  • Knowledge, experience and skill in working with “Meal Magic” point‑of‑sale system desired.
  • Ability to form a good rapport with students, staff and co‑workers.
  • Ability to follow and carry out verbal and written directions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regular and reliable in‑person attendance is an essential job function.
  • Responsible for the portioning and serving of foods following all HACCP guidelines together with established safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Responsible for the setup/ breakdown of various serving lines.
  • Responsible for completing daily production and participation paperwork and balancing of daily intake and deposits.
  • Responsible for following the Standard Operating Procedures as outlined in the Food Safety/HACCP Manual.
  • Must comply with appropriate dress code as outlined in Food Service Dress Code.
Additional Skills

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities: Personal computer skills necessary. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Must speak clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Must perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical Demands

The job requires frequent speaking or hearing, occasional pushing or lifting up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books and AV/laptop carts, and traversing the school campus. In case of emergency, must be able to traverse the campus and lead students to safety.

Vision: requires close vision for reading handwritten or typed material and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The noise level is frequently moderate to loud. Employee must work with the public and other staff, continuously meeting multiple demands.
